Stars and fireworks

Na was born on a Saturday evening and was brought home the following Sunday morning through sunny Hanoi streets floating in red, green and purple clouds of summer flowers and foliage. A May child, she has a natural glow that makes her face so bright, a friend of Na's Grandma said it reminds her of a star falling from the sky.

I love watching Na falling asleep at night. Her eyes grow dull then the pupils drift upwards to disappear into her closing eyelids. And that's when the miracle begins. Her lips curl up into smiles, one after another, each wider, happier, more humorous that the last. I lie next to her, my eyes savouring each of her smiles and suddenly colourful fireworks light up our dark bedroom and the beautiful sound of silver bells from above distance the sound from the streets as an angel drifts to her angelic rest.
